Over 50 years old, the now 285,000-square-foot Phoenix Art Museum in the heart of Phoenix presents more than 18,000 objects of American, Native American, European, Asian, Latin American and Western American contemporary and modern art spanning centuries and up to the 21st century. In the Western American Art collection, for example, there are nearly 900 paintings, drawings, sculptures, and prints of the American West. There are also many pieces by artists from the Southwest as well as by famous well-known artists. The museum has become the southwestern United States' largest art museum and has been visited by millions, including more than one million school children.
