If there's one area among all the areas in a hospital where revenue enhancements and cost savings are hidden, it's among the hospital's processes. Of the head-scratching examples of these I've re-viewed, ALL arise from a lack of understanding of the processes and their associated costs and revenues, and that lack of understanding comes from considering these process issues unimportant.
